Read MoreThis year the Lethbridge CBC took place on Sunday, Dec. 19th. Eighty-two participants counted 39 areas in the city of Lethbridge and 6 country areas. Nine individuals focused their efforts on feeder counts in the city. A total of 47 species (51,267 individual birds) were tallied on count day and an additional 3 species were observed during count week.

Read MoreIn December the City of Lethbridge and the Helen Schuler Nature Centre provided Tali Neta, an instructor from Lethbridge College, with data collected between 2015 and 2019 from the annual Coulee Cleanup event. Neta then had students in her Geomorphology class use the data to create StoryMaps that tell a narrative about the litter and the effect it has on the local ecosystem as their end-of-term project.

Eighty-four dedicated participants tallied 57 species (45,737 individual birds) on count day, with an additional 5 species during count week. This was the highest count recorded according to data dating back to 2003, surpassing previous high counts of 49 in 2007, 2012 and 2015.
