Now hiring: Snake Safety Outreach Assistant

Friends of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre Society supports Lethbridge's Nature Centre to foster a community of environmentally responsible citizens through interactive nature-based experiences.

We want to further position the Helen Schuler Nature Centre as a world-class facility that connects visitors and residents to the many benefits of the great outdoors.

Did you know? Four of Alberta's 7 species of snake call Lethbridge home.  These include Alberta's and possibly Canada's longest snake, and the province's only species which may pose a serious health hazard with its venomous bite.  The Bullsnake can reach lengths of over 6 feet and the Prairie rattlesnake is considered the only venomous snake in the province.  Both can be found in Lethbridge!

Since 2015 the Friends of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre Society have delivered public presentations on snakes - specifically how residents can live safely in snake territory. Presentation venues include: Paradise Canyon Golf Resort Restaurant, University of Lethbridge, Helen Schuler Nature Centre, Writing on Stone Provincial Park, and numerous local schools.
