The Federation of Alberta Naturalists, known as Nature Alberta, is an important provincial organization whose founding Treasurer was Helen Schuler.

At the time of formation in 1970 six natural history clubs, including the Lethbridge Naturalists’ Society, joined together to form the Federation. In 2021 Nature Alberta serves a membership of over 40 clubs representing thousands of individuals that share a passion for nature.

Nature Alberta’s programs have evolved over the years. Their current focus is on helping Albertans learn about, experience, and protect our native wildlife and ecosystems. You may be interested in their quarterly magazine, website, e-Newsletters, and social media streams. They an active outreach program that includes the popular Nature Kids program, the Urban Nature Initiative, and interpretive outings and events. In collaboration with organizations like the Friends of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre Society they host a Nature Network that promotes nature education and stewardship across the province.
